Ethereum Mixer Guide: Services & Privacy Models

An Ethereum mixer can use a different custody and privacy model from a Bitcoin service. This guide compares the mechanisms and source evidence, including the distinction between services and privacy protocols. The examples include Privacy Pools and the RAILGUN privacy protocol.

What is an Ethereum mixer?

An Ethereum mixer is a broad label for a service or protocol intended to reduce the visible link between an incoming and outgoing transfer. The label alone does not tell you who controls the funds, which assets are supported or whether the product uses smart contracts.

Why approval and exit rules matter

Privacy Pools documents a design combining commitments, zero-knowledge proofs and an association-set provider. Its documentation also describes partial withdrawals and a public exit for deposits that are not approved. These are specific design features, not a description of every Ethereum privacy tool. What is Privacy Pools? ↗.

ETH support is not enough information

Read the exact network and asset requirements in the product documentation. Ethereum mainnet, an Ethereum layer 2 and another EVM network are different networks. Check the deployment and token contract, then compare the amount limits, custody model and complete cost. Keep those details attached to the product version and source date.

Which Ethereum mixer is best?

This directory has no completed transaction tests or personal reviews that would support naming a winner. Profiles distinguish documented features from unanswered questions. A reachable website is an access observation; it does not demonstrate that the service processes withdrawals.

What does a Tor link tell you?

A Tor address describes an access option. It does not establish the privacy properties of a blockchain transaction. ClearRoute labels provider-advertised addresses separately from unconfirmed reports. Understand the Tor labels.
